UNCERTAINTY
Emerging Artists Group Show 2018 in Hong Kong
Uncertainty
Uncertainty is an exhibition by A group of emerging artists from the 2018 graduating class of Visual Arts and Culture, at the Hong Kong Design Institute. The show is named Uncertainty, which is a keyword found in a book called Generation HK: Seeking Identity in China’s Shadow written by Ben Bland. As Hong Kong natives, growing up in such uncertain times for Hong Kong and its future, we feel that this word encompasses ourselves and our feelings at this time.
Since we are a very individual and unique group of artists, caught between the traditions of Chinese culture and the idealistic approach of modern globalism, we struggle to define ourselves and our futures with a defined theme or style in a time of increasing uncertainty. We also believe that contemporary art should not be suppressed by the boundaries of traditional methods, instead of that artists should surpass these boundaries to create and innovate.
