Emerging Artists Group Show 2018 in Hong Kong
Katie Wong Lok Yi
Katie Wong born in Hong Kong in 1997. Rather than printing, Wong’s work has also attempted to create three-dimensional artwork and installation.
In her early works, she mostly explored social issues, while recent works themes turn to focus on "homework" which expresses her emotions and feeling on this topic. The main element of Wong's work is textual. She likes building the images in a text of her artworks because she believes that when the two elements are combined, a strong chemical reaction will be produced, and the expression of the idea will be stronger.
Instead of above creative mediums, Wong also uses textiles and fashion materials as her explorations in other art fields, hoping to bring greater possibilities to her creation. In 2017, she worked as a scenic and fashion design assistant to serves a stage drama called “In Transit" for “a thin line theatre". She has also assisted the events which organized by Hong Kong Design Centre.
